Coro Loriko – Timor Hananu Hamutuk
Coro Loriko marks a new direction for the Boite. The MMC (Melbourne Millennium Chorus) and BSC (Boîte School Chorus) allow us to explore Australia’s multicultural roots through songs and stories. This year we wanted to go one step further, to help develop a meaningful community arts project in the country on which the project was focused. There are four steps to this program. The first is to create a choir, Coro Loriko, made up of singers representing all regions of Timor-Leste and rehearse them in Dili. Then the choir will come to Melbourne in August to perform in the MMC and BSC concerts and at many other school and community events and even more on its return home. In the two years following we want the choir members to help us to organise and promote singing in the community in Timor Leste. Then, in 2015, we want singing friends from across Timor-Leste and around the world to join us in the inaugural
Timor Hananu Hamutuk – Timor Singing Get together.
