Nutrition Program -Fuiloro
Development of a healthy balanced diet for the 120 girls in this technical college.
A daily food plan has been developed incorporating all 5 food groups. Girls are now getting a glass of milk and fruit daily, meat 3 times a week and 1 egg weekly on top of their basic diet of rice and Vegetables.
Cost: $2500 annually
Education sessions run by Dr Sue English on visits annually to Timor.
Development of Baking skills.
In 2013 we are planning to incorporate equipment to bake bread daily in the kitchen for the purposes of:
- Feeding the girls at the college
- Teaching the girls bread making skills
- Selling bread at the local market and to other communities locally to make enough money to make the project self sustaining.
- Equipment will include a small 1 phase dough kneader, baking trays and a wood fired oven.
Once operational, we are hoping to be able to use this model at other technical training colleges run by the Salesian Missions and other sites in Timor
